This thread is for problems with the Simplify3D software and Sigma.

    First problem :
When trying a harware connection (using USB). I get the same error over and over again…
Someone who knows a solution to this? Firmware issue ?
I would like to use this part of the software for finetuning the extrusion multiplier for different materials.
But up to now, no luck.

What I also notice (maybe this is important) …
The printer reboots when connecting (when plugging in the USB) and at the time it says “Connection failed” it reboots again.

Yes, I had this problem too. I can tell you that upgrading the firmware didn’t help.
There is an option in the Tools > firmware configuration > communication called “Wait for startup command” that I unchecked and it got the comms working.
But then you won’t be able to print through USB because you will run into problems with M109 and M190 commands which will make you start printing when the bed and extruders are still cold. You can find more about this in another post in this forum and there is also a github issue on this last topic.

    Hi Pedro,
    This is solved I guess.
You have to uncheck the “Allow command buffering” checkbox, leave the “Wait for startup command” checked.
I will check if the commands you specified work this way.

    Hi guys,
    I am experiencing the sqme issue;
Printer rebooting when connecting to computer
CRC mismatch and not connecting to computer
When connected (random success on both Mac and Windows): doesn’t print, doesn’t home axis’, …
I tried the solution above, with no success.
    Any ideas? Firmware update soon?

    Still same…
I managed to start a print job… but the printer doesn’t wait for the temperatures to be reached…
And sometimes communication in suddenly lost. (CRCs).
So I guess there’s still some work to do here.

    Hi!
We’ve received some users regarding this issue and we’ve made this little guide.
    https://github.com/BCN3D/BCN3D-Cura-Windows/wiki/Connect-the-BCN3D-Sigma-to-Simplify-3D
We’ve tested and works for us. Any feedback will be apreciated so we can keep improving documentation.
    Hope it helps!

    Hi,
I still have the same Probleme with Simplify 4.0 and Sigma (Firmware 01-1.2.6). Unchecking “Allow command buffering” does not help. Connection cannot be established with the following output:

    Attempting connection at \\.\COM3...
    READ: 01-1.2.6
    READ: echo:start
    READ: BCN3D Sigma
    Testing plaintext communication protocol...
    Testing binary communication protocol...
    Testing alternate communication protocols...
    Connection failed.

When “Wait for startup command” is unchecked communication works, but will not be synchronized with the correct temperatures.
    Regards
    Bernd

After playing a bit, I found communication Settings which work in my Environment (Simplify 4.0 and Sigma Firmware 01-1.2.6)
I attached my settings as screenshot.

    Still does not run reliable.
I will try to disable command buffering again, since printing stopps frequently for a couple of seconds.
Reboots while plugging USB are reproducable.
It seems, that Simplify 3D can be operated with the Sigma via SDCard only.
Nobody else experiencing this problem in 2017 ?

    Same here.
Connection is working after disabling mentioned settings, but Simplify3D crashes randomly 🙁

In between, I am printing via Octoprint and Raspberry Pi which is working stable.
