Z-Axis Bottom Screak

    Hej there!

    While changing filament for example, the software moves the bed to the bottom. The bed moves downwards fine, until it’s near the bottom. The motor is still running, but the build plate does not move anymore. This results in a screaking sound. It happens everytime I want to change the filament.
    At first I thought, the reason for this might be some old filament or some other stuff that could block the way down. I double checked that. It’s free to go!
    I am running the latest firmware: v01-1.1.6.

    Anything I can do about that?

    Have you attempted a simple bed calibration from the menu? What you describe sounds as though the machine has lost Z-reference, which is gained by reading the micro-switches on the extruder housings. The controller would then know the top limit and not attempt to drop more than the programming permits.

    Hej!
    Just tried to do that. The calibration works just fine, until the head cleaning of the left extruder is done. After that the left print head crashes into the right one and keeps moving and moving, until I hit the Power Switch.
    May something went wrong when I did the firmware upgrade? I will redo that. With .5 everything went fine while calibrating.

    I think your idea of re-flashing the firmware is a good one. The processor is seriously confused.

    A re flash might not work as the settings are storred in the epromm?

    Let us know if you need help on this but I suggest pronterface and using the codes to reset the epromm settings based on the defaults.

    Okay, can you tell me which G-code commands I need to use? But maybe it would be interesting to just check what is stored in the EEPROM first. I think the
    M503
    command will be the correct one for that, right?
    Phill: Can you tell me what I have to send via Pronterface? Would be very kind. I could test that tomorrow or in the late evening. 🙂

    Okay! I did a factory reset:
    M502
    and stored them
    M500
    Now I am running the full calibration without any problems.
