Material Selector: A magical way to find a fitting material for your application

We are proud to launch the first-of-its-kind, free material selector wizard where you can always find the filament that’s right for you by answering a few simple questions according to your printing needs.

BCN3D Filaments

Flexibility, water-solubility, strength, heat resistance…we understand that there’s a lot to think about when choosing the right material to suit your print job’s needs, and we like to think you’ll be spoiled for choice with our selection of materials produced by MCPP and BASF.

But have no fear, our new material selector is here.

We’re sure by now you know our philosophy here at BCN3D Technologies: Enabling innovators to create the future. That’s why we are providing you with the first free FDM selector tool.

Instead of reading the individual profiles of each filament, we thought it was easier to unjumble your thoughts by starting with properties first. All you have to do is answer a few questions regarding your requirements for a filament, and we will provide you with a recommendation.

How to give it a go

Access our website and click on Filaments>Material Selector.  Then get started!

The first question aims to break things down between visual, technical and support materials.

Visual materials are those which take aesthetics into consideration. For example, if you are looking for availability in a variety of colours or a good surface finish.

Technical materials imply some more demanding requirements, such as impact resistance and chemical resistance.

Support materials are parts printed to act as supports. In this case, requiring water solubility is often a must for an easy removal of the support component.

Depending on your choices, a series of questions will follow, regarding heat resistance and contact with solvents, bases or acids.

After completion, you will be given a recommendation with a link to a page packed full of information on the advised filament. This page includes properties, applications and instructions on how to print using the material.

Make sure to get your result sent to your email address so it doesn’t slip your mind!

All the possibilities

It will sort through our diverse filament portfolio of:

BCN3D Filament Range

So next time you’re weary from contemplating the filament that will give you the best results, make sure to check with our material selector for a quick fix!
